Mulligan Security (http://www.mulligansecurity.com), a New York City-based provider of security services in New York and New Jersey, is pleased to announce it has been accredited by the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) to provide the training curriculum for the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) Director Program and is now also accredited as a certified Emergency Action Plan School.
In March 2003, the NYC Department of Buildings formed the World Trade Center Building Code Task Force to examine the events of September 11 and determine what action could be taken to better prepare for possible future tragedies. The recommendations were incorporated into Local Law 26 of 2004. This Law included a requirement that the Fire Department have all high-rise office buildings develop Emergency Action Plans.
Under the direction of an individual with a Certificate of Fitness as an Emergency Action Plan Director, these plans detail the drills needed for the safe evacuation of or other actions required of building occupants during a non-fire emergency.
“Mulligan Security is pleased the Fire Department of New York City approved our firm’s training curriculum for the EAP Director Program and accredited us as a certified EAP School,” said Kevin Mulligan, Executive Vice President. “In addition to our Fire and Life Safety Program, we will now be directly involved in the academic portion of the FS/EAP Director certification process and the building-specific hands-on training. I’m proud to say that our Fire Safety and EAP Directors have the depth of knowledge and level of experience no other security firms in NYC can offer.”
This accreditation is the latest in a series of Fire Safety qualifications Mulligan Security has applied for and received. Earlier this year, the firm was accredited by FDNY as an Approved School for Fire Safety Directors. In April 2013, the firm was approved to offer the Construction Site Fire Safety Manager Certification course. Prior to that, Mulligan Security became certified to serve as filing processors to submit Fire Safety and Emergency Action Plans for any building in New York City.
