ROGER LUNT was named the deputy director of the ILLINOIS FIRE SERVICE INSTITUTE (IFSI). Lunt mentored with Deputy Director Dave Clark, who retired on August 31. Lunt’s association with the IFSI began in 1978. His fire service experience includes both career and volunteer departments where he has been a firefighter, company officer, and chief. He is also a member of a national Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team, with whom he has deployed and served in New York City after 9/11 and in the Gulf after Hurricane Katrina. His book Chaos was recently published by Fire Engineering.

United States Fire Administrator KELVIN J. COCHRAN was awarded the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Life Time Achievement Award. Cochran was appointed fire administrator for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s United States Fire Administration in August 2009. As U.S. Fire Administrator, Cochran is charged with overseeing, coordinating, and directing national efforts to prevent fires and improve fire response. Cochran supervises fire prevention and safety education programs and professional development opportunities for emergency responders at all levels of government. Cochran has 28 years of experience in preventing and responding to fires and emergencies. www.usfa.dhs.gov.
