The 12 Saw Positions Drill

By Nick Martin

This drill focuses on building comfort and familiarity with “uncomfortable” saw positions through practice.

The inertia and weight of rotary saws frequently is foreign and distracting to their users. This is particularly true when these saws are used in an above-ground positions, such as any position other than using them to cut a flat roof (for example).

This drill outlines the 12 positions that members must be comfortable with when using rotary saws in this manner, keeping in mind that when using these saws for focible entry it is more often about where you make your cut, rather than simply that you made your cut.
