The NATIONAL PROPANE GAS ASSOCIATION (NPGA) awarded a grant to develop high-quality training

The NATIONAL PROPANE GAS ASSOCIATION (NPGA) awarded a grant to develop high-quality training materials for public safety and industrial emergency response teams. The project includes producing a training text and a facilitator`s guide to serve as a model curriculum for fire service organizations and propane marketers who train their own personnel and who also train local, county, and state fire training organizations. The detailed text for propane emergencies will include standards and regulations; container design; construction features for fixed and mobile tanks; emergency response tactics for cylinders, stationary tanks, trucks, railcars, bulk plants, and storage tanks; and offloading and uprighting procedures. A companion facilitator`s guide will include model lesson plans, guidelines for safe training prop construction, and a PC-formatted computer disk for preparing PowerPointTM presentations.

Another part of the project involves revising, expanding, and distributing the video Handling LP-Gas Leaks and Fires, available from the NPGA.
