John (Skip) Coleman

Roundtable Moderator

Deputy Chief of Operations

Toledo (OH) Department of Fire and Rescue

Instead of the usual question-and-answer segment in this month`s Roundtable, we decided to provide “you, the readers” with some of the feedback we received from “you, the readers.”

We are very pleased with the response to Roundtable. I am often stopped by readers at conferences and training sessions and told how much they like the articles and how refreshing it is to read how several cities handle the “common” concerns that exist in our fire service. Two articles in particular seemed to “perk up” the readers–the September Roundtable discussion concerning nozzles and the August Roundtable on PPV.

Before you read the responses, I would like to remind you that we encourage your responses to these Roundtable issues. There are always better ways of doing things. No one department has all the answers. In the September issue, we listed the upcoming topics for discussion and encouraged you to participate as a panel member along with our group of “regulars.” If you would like to submit a response to any of these future questions or to respond to what has already been written, please do so. We periodically will publish these comments as well as those of the “regular panelists.”
