Cincinnati (OH) firefighters have expressed concerns over water supply to some areas of the city after a recent structure fire, according to a report from WKRC.
Chief Roy Winston with the Cincinnati Fire Department told reporters that firefighters were limited water pressure and volume from some of the city’s mains.
“Six-inch water mains over time through sedimentation and build-up have narrowed down to probably with only a few inches in diameter,” said Matt Alter, the president of Cincinnati Firefighter Union Local 48. “And so when you’re pulling such a large volumes of water, it’s just not able to keep up.”
In 2009 in Toledo, Ohio, some firefighters raised concerns about the four-inch water mains in the city after a fire burned an historic home in the city.
