Detroit Suburbs Add All-Digital Technology to First Responder Tools

The Detroit suburbs of Plymouth and Northville, Michigan.are adopting the all-digital CommandScopeTM pre-plan technology to strengthen emergency response. As a shared technology between the City Fire Services, serving  Plymouth and Northville, responders will now have immediate, critical knowledge of municipal buildings and facilities, vastly improving their chances of saving lives and reducing property damage in cases of emergency.

Two years ago, the historic DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Detroit Downtown – Fort Shelby adopted CommandScope as a critical tool to protect the guests, staff and property, as well as to ease the burden for Detroit’s first responders.

Michiganders beyond the two communities will benefit from the installation which provides the fire department with instant en route access to site plans, floor plans, hazardous material details, utility shut-off locations, geographical maps, fire hydrants locations, residents with special needs, and other critical building and infrastructure data.

“CommandScope pre-plan is a wonderful leap forward and a critical component of our response protocol,” said 38-year veteran Captain Jim Davison of the City Fire Services, serving Plymouth and Northville. “CommandScope provides tremendous information not only for our on-call firefighters, but also for mutual aid responders that may come in from neighboring municipalities. It is in our vision to get this technology included in our Thursday night training drills.”

The flexible software platform allows the fire department to both share and update information in real time. So even if a response team has never been to the property before, those responders will have working knowledge of the building, its occupants, and hazards.

“We expect a lot of our first responders, and they routinely deliver by putting themselves at risk to keep us safe,” says Jerry St. Germaine of RealView, LLC.  “We designed CommandScope to be user-friendly with the mindset that this is an advantage first responders need and deserve.  We are excited to see this technology becoming a fundamental tool available to first responders across the country.”
