Encapsulated haz-mat suits
Kappler Inc. introduces their fully encapsulating haz-mat suits constructed of Saranexlaminated Tyvek.
According to the manufacturer, some of the special design features include the following: bound seam construction, expanded back for airtank, adhesive storm flap over rear entry zipper, sock boot to fit inside turn-out boot, boot flap to prevent chemical leak into boot, full-sized attached hood, clear face shield with in-transit tissue protector, external size label, elastic wrists, full range of sizes and individual polybag packaging for storage convenience.

Engine-mounted pump
A new engine-mounted pump, designed for cross-mounting on fire apparatus, has been announced by W. S. Darley & Co. This is a combination of the Darley Champion HM model pump and the Ford LSG423P gasoline industrial engine, and has the Champion model designation HE/ FORD 423.
Designed for easy installation on almost any truck chassis, the HE/FORD 423 is recommended as an alternative to the difficult P-T-O applications, especially on a gasoline engine chassis. This new pump gives an apparatus greater firefighting versatility by allowing faster pump and roll, as well as stationary pumping, according to the manufacturer.
It provides wide ranging performance, with 175 gpm at 300 psi, 300 gpm at 225 psi, and a maximum volume of 450 gpm at 150 psi.

Software aids in preplanning
National Foam, in conjunction with Systems Approach, introduces a computer program, Foamstat, that will help flammable liquid fire protection specialists plan for emergencies. It can be used wherever flammable liquids are processed, stored, or transported.
This IBM-PC compatible applications program includes a comprehensive technical manual that will lead the operator through step-by-step emergency preplanning. In an emergency, the user enters pertinent data, and Foamstat will provide calculations regarding foam and equipment requirements and application rates.

Container system
Bondico Inc. has introduced a 90-gallon container system designed for transportation, storage, treatment, and disposal of hazardous and toxic materials. A patented composite of polyethylene and fiberglass, the container is safe and cost-effective, with multiple reuse, according to the company.
The unit may be utilized as a salvage container, original container, or encapsulate via its on-site sealing system (patent pending). The container is rustproof, leakproof, corrosion resistant, lightweight, nestable, and reusable, according to the company.

Automatic fog nozzle
Task Force Tips Inc. introduces the largest flow capacity automatic fog nozzle, according to the company. The new TFT Monsoon is the first fully automatic fog nozzle with a range of 300-2,000 gpm. The Monsoon maintains an accurate 100 psi at the nozzle throughout its range.
Applications include truck-mounted deluge devices and industrial applications where flow may be greater than 1,000 gpm.

Suction tube caps
A new suction tube cap has been introduced by the Hale Fire Pump Company. The cap’s new sculptured design features distinctive concentrically machined circles resembling a target, according to the company.
Because each ring radiating from the center is machined five-thousandths of an inch lower than the previous ring, a cap placed facedown rests solely on the innermost three-quarter-inch-wide circle and suffers reduced surface scratching. The new chrome-finished caps will be made available in sizes of 4.5-, 5-, and 6-inch N.S.T.

Portable shower facility
The portable Hazmat Shower booth, manufactured by Gaamp Inc., provides contaminated persons with an immediate, thorough, cleansing shower, according to the manufacturer.
The booth can be erected quickly anywhere decontamination is required, and because it’s modular, it can expand to larger sizes to process more people in a short amount of time.

Supra Key Control Ltd. introduces the Supra KeySafe System. This includes:
SupraSafe 2 has a hardened steel lid and lock cylinder plus 1/4-inch steel wall construction. It accommodates multiple keys and access cards. SupraSafe 1 is made of ⅛-inch steel. It has an attached hinged lid with a weatherproof keyway seal.
The Supra-MAX is designed for facilities using access card entry systems. It is made of silver-grey Zamac 5 zinc alloy. The Supra-S5 KeySafe can control access to secured rooms, plant equipment, etc. It is also cast of Zamac 5 zinc alloy and has dual wall construction.

Tracked vehicle
Otter Manufacturing Inc. introduces the Otter Utility 1, a tracked vehicle that features a Kohler 17 horse, twin-cylinder aircooled engine. It has a 12-volt electrical system with key ignition and 15-amp alternator.
The drive train is surrounded by an allsteel frame and body. The Otter seats two persons and can be operated in snow, sand, swamp, or bog.
