Drop bag
The Drop Bag is available from Smith Safety Products Inc. (SSP). The rope contained inside the bag can be used as a safety rope on roofs, during searches, or as a rescue/escape rope. The bag can be attached to any breathing apparatus for easy access.
The drop bag’s contents weighs 3 pounds and is built out of SSP’s 3/8-inch Lime Line, a static kernmantle rope with high visibility and strength, according to the company.

Breathing apparatus
Skat-Pak is a 5-minute, hood-type, opencircuit breathing apparatus available from Scott Aviation. It is designed for emergency escape from toxic environments that are dangerous to life or health. Breathing air is supplied to the user from a rechargeable 3,000-psi aluminum cylinder at a flow rate of 60-70 gpm constant flow.

New cable reel
A new cable reel designed to provide an onboard power source for emergency vehicle equipment is available from Aero-Motive Manufacturing Co.
The new Series WE reel is designed for vehicle mounting, and can hold up to 300 feet of No. 10 type-SO cable for powering lights, smoke ejectors and other power appliances used by firefighters.

FireSoft Exam from Ocean Data Systems Inc. is a software package that will generate, administer, and grade fire service examinations. It is used for promotional, certification, and practice exams, which can be executed on a personal computer in the station house and graded instantly.

Infra-red heat detector
Dyn-Optics announces the availability of an electro-optical infra-red heat detector. The Model 955 Fire Finder is used to locate heat sources, fires, and overheated equipment.
The Fire Finder is hand-held and the same size as a flashlight. It emits an audible alarm with a pitch that increases in proportion to the temperature of the targeted heat source.

Rescue accessory
The Rescue Roller, from Brandon Rescue Apparatus, is designed to assist hydraulic rescue tools, air bags, port-a-powers, and come-a-longs. It permits steering columns to be removed quickly from either the driver or passenger door regardless of vehicle position—right side up or upside down—and from autos trapped under tractor trailers with neither windshield nor doors accessible, according to the manufacturer.

Hose ramp
Mentor Products, Inc. introduces their new traffic cross-over system, Hoseramp, which is made of high-strength aluminum. It channels and safeguards in-use fire hose, fuel, or power lines from cross-over vehicle traffic at limited access routes, work areas, disaster sites, etc. It simultaneously provides right-of-way for essential cross-over traffic that is servicing the same areas.
The system is portable when disassembled, and sections are nested for stack-storage on 18 X 24-inch floor area of service vehicle.

Rescue harness
The Robertson quick-adjust pelvic rescue harness is now available. The harness features double-wide webbing on pressure points and is designed to fit either under or over turnouts. It is constructed with mil spec, type XIII orange nylon webbing and #5 cord nylon thread.

Asco Products, headquartered in Britain, introduces their flexible layout systems designed to train fire officers. The systems simulate domestic, commercial, and industrial interiors for orientation training, smoke and noise generators, crawlways and walkways, radio and surveillance equipment, breathing apparatus, and an advanced thermal imager to identify the seat of fires and locate casualties.

Portable emergency lighting
A portable light cart that can be wheeled to remote areas, indoors or out, for emergency work, repairs, or cleanup, is now available from Lab Safety Supply Company. The cart has two 500-watt quartz floodlights that can be operated via the alternator or plugged into a 110 VAC power source. The fixture height is adjustable and swivels both horizontally and vertically. The cart has a weatherproof on/off switch that operates the lights and four grounded outlets for power tools. The brushless generator is powered by a 5-hp gasoline engine.
