Streamlined hydrant

The Kennedy Valve Division of ITT Grinnell Valve Co. has introduced the improved Guardian hydrant with a new and simple design.

The pressure-activated drain valve assembly provides positive sealing when the hydrant is open and features a large channel around the seat ring to provide rapid drainage of water from the barrel when the hydrant is closed after use.

Decorative fire sprinklers

A new line of decorative fire sprinklers with varied colored bulbs is being introduced by Firematic Sprinkler Devices, Inc. The FireMaster Decor Pendant Sprinklers feature clear glass bulbs filled with red, yellow, orange, or green liquids.

The sprinklers discharge when bulbs burst upon reaching rated temperatures of 135°F to 200° F, according to the manufacturer.

Hazchem suit

FabOhio, Inc., has introduced a new Hazchem suit that protects the wearer from various chemicals and unsafe environments. It is designed to be used with any self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) or air line system. The suit can also be worn for emergency responses, spill containment, site clean up, tank cleaning, and rail car derailment responses.

Flame detector

The Firetek Corporation introduces its dual-wavelength infra-red flame detector.

The 4400 series detector does not see electric arc welding, lightning, sunlight, x-rays, or ultra-violet radiation. It is 100% solid state and responds to a flash fire in 15 milliseconds, according to the manufacturer.

Morgan Protective Apparel, Inc. introduces Fire-Dex firefighter gloves. They are made of double chrome-tanned leather in a Gunn-cut pattern with Clute-style thumb, which provides dexterity and flexibility, according to the company. Other features include an elastic backside band and triangular leather pull-tabs on wristlets.
