Cellular phone

The NEC M4500ES cellular phone now has expanded spectrum capability, enabling 25 percent more access to open channels.

The NEC M4500ES, available from NEC America Inc., features speed dialing of up to 99 frequently called phone numbers. On-hook dialing and a handsfree microphone allow the user to place and take calls without having to lift the receiver. An optional feature enables the user to leave a 16-second recorded message telling callers that there’s no one there, where she or he can be reached, and when to call back.

Relief/dump valve

Elkhart Brass Manufacturing Co.’s new relief/dump valve is ideal for frontmount pump application.

Constructed of rugged brass with a stainless steel spring, the valve features a rubber seat to assure positive vacuum seal. The valve, Model No. 40, has a pressure range adjustable from 50 to 165 psi.

Adjustable flashlights

Garrity Industries introduces two flashlight models that adjust from spotlight to floodlight by turning the lens. Both are equipped with krypton bulbs, have fresnel lenses, and are shock resistant. The Adjust-ABeam throws a 300-foot beam; the Mini Adjust-A-Beam throws a 100-foot beam.

Wolf Absorbent Socks provide fast, economical containment of oil, acids, caustics, and flammable solvents. Three types of absorbent socks are available; The Super Wolf Sock absorbs 15 times its weight in hazardous waste, and is best suited for haz-mat responses; the Regular Wolf Sock, designed for smaller spills, absorbs more than 7 times its weight; and the Oil-Only Wolf Sock skims petroleum-based fluids from rivers and lakes.

Combination respirator

National Draeger introduces its PA-80 series combination SAR/HEPA respirator.

The PA-80 is a supplied air respirator and a high efficiency dust, fume, and mist filter respirator. It’s approved by NIOSH in the filter mode for escape purposes only. The filter is to be used with 25 to 300 feet of airline hose at inlet supply pressures of 90 to 120 psig.

Indoor rower

The Coffey Indoor Rower, available from Pro Tec Sports Inc., reproduces the most important elements of rowing: a horizontal stroke and a natural rhythm.

The feel of resistance changes as power is applied, and though the wheel slows down between strokes, it doesn’t entirely stop. This gives the rower a sense of momentum, encouraging longer, steadier workouts. The rower can be stored on its end, requiring only two square feet of floor space.

Aluminum carry-all

The Tuff-Writer is for those times when writing, carrying, and referring to forms and other documents has to be done under less than ideal conditions.

The two-section carry-all, available from Saunders Manufacturing Co., is made of vinyl-clad aluminum. A heavyduty clip holds up to 1-inch of paper; a nickel plated latch keeps compartments closed securely; and double cork strips prevent the unit from sliding.

Turbo lubricator

The HD Truck Saver, available from Oregon Research Technology Inc., automatically provides lubrication to the turbocharger during the heat soakback period.

The unit, controlled electronically, comes on for a 20-second prelube cycle before the engine starts and again at shutdown for four minutes. Truck Saver includes 5/16-diameter truck hose, reusable hydraulic fittings, a filter bracket, a check valve, a selfpriming positive displacement pump, an electronic control module, and a special swivel adapter.

Satellite communications system

Magnavox is now offering a turnkey program aimed at making it faster, easier, and less costly to establish remotesite satellite communications facilities.

The system is based on the Magnavox MX 2400T, a portable satellite communications terminal. It can be used with a wide variety of data modems, remote computers, and facsimile machines. Once on-site, set-up and operation can be performed by one individual. No special technical skills are needed.
