Triband disguise antennas

A new series of 800-MHz mobile antennas for Ford and Chrysler vehicles that look like regular manufactured car antennas has been released by Antenna Specialists Co.

Each is a match for standard AM and FM broadcast antennas, with 31-inch stainless steel whips on look-alike mounts.

Warning light and reflector

Public Safety Equipment introduces two new DashLaser products, a reflector and a warning light.

The DashLaser 5-Flash is a snap-on reflector that increases DashLaser signal output to 400 directional flashes per minute. The reflector is about the size of a large rearview mirror.

The warning light, DashLaser-M, uses a 5-Flash reflector, a color filter, and a DashLaser with a clear or amber lens to produce an alternating two-color signal. Colors available are red and white, red and amber, and blue and white.

Pullover harness

The Rose Pullover Harness from Rockford Medical & Safety Co., for climbing, lifting, and lowering, has a chest area Dring.

The harness doesn’t have a waist belt; instead, straps support legs and back. Four light D-rings are located relative to the body’s center of gravity. The tool belt can be worn separately.

The standard harness fits small, medium, and large builds.

Vertical cylinder chain saw

Two vertical cylinder chain saws recently introduced by Shindaiwa Inc. are built for cold-weather use.

Both the 4.1-cubic-inch 695 model and the 3.5-cubic-inch 575 model have a car-buretor with a built-in de-icer. An extralarge oil hole makes filling easier in cold weather. Both models are available with an electronically heated control handle.

Five-passenger van

The Util-I-Van Crew Cab can seat five people without cutting back on cargo capacity. The van, available from Utilimaster Corp., features a three-person bench with seat belts. It comes with an extra window with slider and screen as well as a side entry door.

There is a choice of chassis makes and sizes; options include bottom body wrap, roll-up rear door, and different types of bumpers.

United Plastic Fabricating Inc. introduces the Poly-Tank series of polypropylene booster and foam tanks.

The Poly-Tank can be designed as a booster tank, a foam tank, or a combination of both; each has a 20-year warranty.

Emergency light pole

Havis-Shields Equipment Corp. introduces its 900 series of emergency light poles and corresponding light fixtures.

The four-foot telescoping pole is made of natural anodized aluminum and has through-body mounting brackets. It comes in three models: the 905N uses a 500-watt North Star Diecase 120-Volts AC lighthead; the 912CT comes with two 12-volt lights on a 16-inch cross tree; and the 912CT-AP has an aluminum base plate for mounting emergency warning lights.

The 900 Series is an addition to the company’s line of Kwik-Raze lighting products.

Emergency lantern

Streamlight Inc.’s Excalibre Series SL40X LiteBox is a rechargeable, highpowered lantern that operates from its own AC/DC recharging rack.

The beam of more than 25,000 candlepower can provide light continually for eight hours. Its adjustable lamp can be aimed forward or 90 degrees skyward. Special optional circuitry enables Lite Box to double as a power-failure light.

An indicator shows when the unit is charging and makes it easy to locate the lantern in the dark. The high-impact, thermoplastic case protects the battery from heat and weather; the lantern has a sure-grip handle.

Gas-detecting tool

Gas Seeker 2, a tool for inspecting leaking underground storage tanks, locating gasoline spills, and inspecting natural gas pipelines, has been introduced by Grace Industries Inc.

The tool detects more than 50 hydrocarbons and is housed in an aluminum case. It’s powered by two alkaline D batteries or by nickel cadium batteries. A built-in light provides illumination for inspecting dark areas.

The Gas Seeker 2 has two modes of operation: a highly sensitive search mode for locating small gas leaks and a calibrated mode for gas concentrations greater than 20 percent LEL (methane) natural gas.

External defibrillator

Cardiac Resuscitator Corp. introduces Heart Aid 1000, a fully automatic external defibrillator for cardiac arrest victims.

Heart Aid 1000 will verify proper contact, analyze the ECG, deliver treatment if necessary, and record the incident on a two-channel tape recorder. Both the patient’s ECG and voices of the rescuers are taped for documentation and review.

Training time is less than one hour, according to the company.

Foam-stabilizing compound

A stabilizing compound that extends the life of Light Water ATC foam, used at hazardous-materials spills and accidents, is available from 3M Co.

When stabilizer FS-7000 and Light Water ATC are combined, a resilient foam blanket that can suppress vapors for 24 hours or more is produced. The blanket clings to surfaces.

According to the company, the products are effective in suppressing vaporization of most classes of chemical compounds, including hydrocarbon liquids (aromatic and aliphatic), alcohols, ketones, esters, amines, and organic acids.

Oil-absorbent fabric

Filter Specialists Inc. introduces Polysorb, an alternative to materials used to absorb oil, gas, grease, solvents, and other petroleum-based liquids.

Polysorb soaks up to 13 to 25 percent of its own weight. It’s water-repellent and won’t shrink, break down, or lose its absorbency.

The material, a melt-blown polypropylene, is available in sheets, booms, and batts.
