Factory Mutual awards arson grants
Factory Mutual has awarded more than $43,000 in arson grants. The focus of the grant program, established in 1976, is to help eliminate arson fires and assist in developing arson prevention and control programs. Recipients will use the award money to purchase investigative tools, develop or host professional training programs, and establish juvenile firesetter programs.
Recipients include the following: Bingham Child Guidance Center, Louisville, Ky., $3,526; Chambersburg (PA) Fire Department, $1,195; City of Erie (PA) Fire Department, $1,400; City of New Haven (CT) Arson Investigation Unit, $2,379; City of Worcester (MA) Fire Department, $1,900; Colleton County Fire Investigation Team, Walterboro, S.C., $1,600; Columbus (OH) Fire Department, $3,300; Hazardous Materials Regional Training Center, Waterloo, Ia., $6,400; Lombard (IL) Fire Department, $2,000; Michigan Arson Prevention Committee, $2,500; Morris County (NJ) Prosecutor`s Office, $3,102; Newark (NJ) Arson Squad, $3,100; Oregon Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators, Inc., $3,000; Perry Township (OH) Fire Department, $635; Reidsville (NC) Arson Task Force, $1,295; Rhode Island State Crime Laboratory, $3,000; San Diego Burn Institute, $2,500 and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, $840.
