HOSE RACK AND SMOKE EJECTOR RACK AND HANGER
We have devised a unique method for connecting hose to the stationary pipe on our aerial ladders. The rack pictured below was made by welding steel strips to angle iron, both of which were cut to length. The unit then was bolted to the ladder brace.
Pieces of angle iron were cut, welded together, and bolted to the truck’s running board to form the rack for smoke ejectors. A rubber strap holds the fans in place over rough terrain.
Metal strips, about ⅛-inch thick, were used to fashion hangers for the fans. The metal was secured in a vise, heated with a torch, and bent with a hammer to a shape that would fit most doors.
