America’s 9-11 Memorial Quilts Organization believes it is important to remember the innocent victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on this nation. A total of eight memorial quilts are under construction to honor the FDNY, the New York/New Jersey Port Authority police and staff, NYPD, EMS, Pentagon, andFlights 93, 11, 175, and 77. The organization would like to include and list each fire station that lost firefighters and each fire station that was destroyed to include on the memorial.
With permission from family members, loved ones, or liaisons, each quilt will contain photos and names of each individual who perished in the wake of September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks against our country and our freedom. The Victims Quilt (10 feet by 60 feet) will contain all individuals who perished on 9/11 including all WTC employees, vendors, visitors, children, police, fire, Port Authority, EMS, and Pentagon personnel, as well as passengers from Flights 93, 11, 175 and 77, lives lost by the deadly bacteria Anthrax in the aftermath of 9/11, along with other symbolic photos, poems, and emergency vehicles.
These memorial quilts will preserve not only the memory but the faces and names of victims in NY, PA, and Washington, D.C. as well as other parts of the USA and of the world whose fate was determined without warning and with vengeance.
Visit http://www.911memorialquilts.com to see the memorial quilts in progress along with a video about the Victims Quilt.
The Victims Quilt will be dedicated and donated to all families of 9/11 victims through William Doyle and other coalitions with hopes that permanent placement will be at the WTC memorial or a museum. Currently, the Victims Quilt is being considered by the LMDC for permanent placement at the WTC memorial. All other quilts will be dedicated and donated to the organizations that they represent.
America’s 9-11 Memorial Quilts Organization has the utmost respect for family members and will not print photos of those lost on the quilts without permission from a family member, a loved one, or a liaison for families. The organization asks for help honoring the lives of our lost loved ones by helping it inform families about this memorial. To date many families have granted permission to include their loved ones on these memorial quilts. The organization will not post individual pictures on its Web site where others could download and abuse the names and photos.
