New RAZOR Simulant Training Kit Launched for BioDetection Training

Idaho Technology, Inc. launched the new RAZOR Simulant Training Kit (SIM 10) that provides functional training for RAZOR EX and RAZOR operators.  The new SIM 10 Kit is formatted exactly like The 10® Target Screen Kit (The 10®) and contains assays for yeast and Bacillus globigii (Bg) which are frequently used as powder or anthrax simulants in training exercises.  The SIM 10 is available immediately for sale and allows trainees to practice sample collection and preparation, pouch loading, and operating the RAZOR EX or RAZOR BioDetection instrument including data analysis.

“First Responders are called upon frequently to respond to White Powder Threats and they need the best equipment with proper training to effectively respond and make good, timely decisions.  The SIM 10 Kit provides the training they need to make these decisions in response to credible biological threats,” states Rachel Jones, Idaho Technology’s vice-president of Marketing and Sales.  Responders receive calls to hundreds of white powder threats each year in the United States.  Once a threat is established to be credible and the white powder is determined to be biological, first responders will use the sensitive RAZOR EX instrument with The 10 kit to reliably detect and identify harmful agents in 30 minutes.  Since The 10 kit is the most frequently used kit, it is critical for first responders to train with a kit that mimics The 10.

About the RAZOR EX BioThreat Detection System

A hand-carry instrument designed specifically for field use that provides sensitive and reliable detection and identification of biological threats using cutting-edge PCR technology.  The battery operated RAZOR EX weighs 11 lbs, operates with freeze-dried reagents, and requires minimal sample preparation which means that it can be used anywhere by military, hazmat, first responders, or private security.

About The 10® Target Screen Kit

A reagent kit designed for use with the RAZOR EX or RAZOR instrument that detects 10 CDC Category A and Category B agents:  Anthrax, Brucella, C. Botulinum, Coxiella, E. coli 0157, Tularemia, Ricin, Salmonella, Smallpox, and Plague.
