A 40-year-old woman died and a 48-year-old man was injured in house fire in Oak Forest (IL), reports the Chicago Tribune.
The woman was found in the house, where three children also lived but were at school during the fire, Oak Forest police Chief Gregory Anderson said. The man suffered critical injuries and was taken for medical treatment.
The fire was called in by drivers passing by around 9 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they found the man on the side porch of the house, and found the woman inside.
Eight fire trucks and about four or five ambulances were at the scene, and the home was severely damaged. The cause wasn’t immediately apparent and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force is investigating, Anderson said.
