Oyen set out on his career path attending South Dakota State, in Brookings, South Dakota, in 1985 and majoring in Agriculture Business. In 1991, he found himself entering the fire service industry as a production employee of Central States Fire Apparatus in Lyons, South Dakota; an industry which he has since dedicated his time to for nearly two decades.

Three years later he became a sales and production coordinator. Now, in 2008, he is vice president of sales.

In his new position, Oyen will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of sales administration which include specification design, pricing, and support for sales staff. He shares this new business opportunity with his wife, Denise, and children, Tyrel (15), Trent (13), and Raechel (12).

After handing duties over to Oyen, Boer will now focus on product development and marketing.
