Scott® replacing some hose assemblies on Air-Pak® breathing apparatus
High-pressure hose assemblies on some Scott® Health & Safety Air-Pak® breathing apparatus may need to be replaced, according to the company. The affected hose`s outer jacket was manufactured without pinhole-type perforations, intended to permit the release of small amounts of air that may diffuse through the hose, Scott® explains. Therefore, the hose may develop bubbles under its outer jacket. The bubbles are not dangerous in themselves, but they may burst and possibly startle the respirator user, Scott® adds. High-pressure hose without the required perforations will be replaced free of charge.
The hose involved was supplied in a specific lot by an outside vendor and was used in 1995 for high-pressure hose assemblies for some Air-Pak FiftyTM and 2.2/4.5 SCBA. The hose has the following production codes stamped into the assembly`s metal elbow: A1Q95, A2Q95, A3Q95, and A4Q95; “1Q95” is molded into the outer black hose jacket, or there may be no visible marking.
