Stihl Recalls Chain Saws

Stihl Recalls Chain Saws

Stihl Inc., of Virginia Beach, Virginia., is voluntarily recalling about 1,000 chain saws. A missing screw can cause the chain brake to fail and present a laceration hazard to consumers. No injuries have been reported.

The recalled chain saws have the model number 019T and bear serial numbers 249129398 through 249956311 (printed on the front of the chain saw). A label on the chain saw reads in part “STIHL” and “model number 019T.” The chain saws were sold from December 2000 through May 5, 2001.

Consumers should return the chain saw immediately for repair to the Stihl dealer from which it was purchased. For more information, contact Stihl Inc. at (800) 467-8445, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s Web site at www.stihlusa.com.
