The stop sale of two breathing apparatus models manufactured by BioMarine Industries that was issued on April 11 has been rescinded by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health(NIOSH).

NIOSH learned that BioMarine had used 11 3/4-inch springs to bias the diaphram of the 30P and 60P BioPaks, rather than the approved 9-inch springs. NIOSH testing disclosed that these longer springs caused high exhalation resistance, which contributed to high relief valve dump pressure.

BioMarine will modify all 30P and 60P units by using the original 9-inch spring at no charge. Users should contact Miss Ryan, (215) 647-7200, at BioMarine Industries.
