Huntington (WV) – The children at the Huntington City Mission knew Santa Claus was coming to visit Monday evening, but that didn’t stop the pure shock and awe they experienced when he pulled up on a fire truck filled with presents.
For the seventh year, the Huntington (WV) Fire Department (HFD) dropped off hundreds of toys to the children for Christmas.
This year, 76 children received presents. And not just one or two. The HFD spent about $125 on each child, giving them plenty of personalized, wrapped gifts to open on Christmas Day.
The kids were smiling ear-to-ear, too, as HFD firefighters unloaded their gifts off the truck and carried them inside where the City Mission had set up a Christmas tree. Santa Claus, played by Huntington fire marshal Steve Ellis, had each child come sit on his lap and tell him what he or she wanted for Christmas.
