3-Alarm Fire in York (PA) Deemed Arson

Eleven people were displaced by a three-alarm fire early Thursday in the city of York, Pennsylvania.

York City Police arrested one person in connection with the fire, according to the local FOX affiliate (http://bit.ly/1oAExca). More arrests are expected.

York City Fire Chief David Michaels says the fire department received a call shortly before 1 a.m. and responded. The fire involved one vacant building and two homes. Part of the abandoned structure collapsed.

ARSON PREVENTION: MOTIVES AND MITIGATION PROGRAMS

Due to the amount of fire, firefighters fought the fire defensively.

The York Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1r0DlkI) reported that officers responding to a reported burglary in progress spoke with a man who smelled of gasoline and was holding a small room heater when smoke filled the block. They arrested the suspect and began evacuation buildings.
