GLENDALE — An explosion and fire caused heavy damage to a home in the 800 block of Glen Elm Drive following a reported gas leak Friday morning, authorities said.
A woman and three teenagers inside escaped with very minor injuries, said Glendale Fire Chief Jim Silvernail.
Silvernail said the fire department received a report of a gas leak at the home about 9:30 a.m. When firefighters arrived, he said, they found the home was on fire following an explosion and that part of the walls had collapsed.
Silvernail, who also is the Kirkwood fire chief, said the occupants, who got out of the home before firefighters arrived, were taken to a hospital and then released.
