Five Hospitalized in Royal Oak (MI) House Fire

On Thursday, January 8 2015, at approximately 0230 hours, the Royal Oak (MI) Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire at 2212 Mace & Minerva.

While en route, updated information was received that there were people trapped on the second floor of the house. Upon arrival of Engine 910, a heavy fire was found in a 1.5-story dwelling. The two trapped victims jumped from the second story prior to arrival.

Medics attended to the down victims. Command requested mutual aid from Madison Heights for an engine. Crews established a water supply, stretched handlines, and preformed a interior attack on the quickly extending fire.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in approximately 30 minutes. Five victims were transported from this fire. The rest of the occupants were able to self evacuate.

Engines 910, 930, 920; Ladder 912′ Rescue 91 and 92; and Madison Heights Engine 72 responded to this incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
