Having difficulty getting good news about your fire department in your local newspaper? Or would you like to learn how to establish a working relationship with reporters and editors? The California State Fire Marshal’s Office might be able to help.

The office’s Public Education Advisory Committee has developed a guide to working with the media, which includes tips on dealing with reporters. Sample press releases and public service announcements are part of the guide.
