My husband is a volunteer firefighter (engineer) for our local fire department. He thought the article “`In Charge` of a Volunteer Department,” Parts 1 and 2 (John M. Buckman, January and February 1996) would assist me in my role as coordinator of the nursing supervisors at one of the area hospitals.
I enjoyed the article and wanted to let you know that Buckman`s philosophy with the 70 roles can be used in any business setting. I will be sharing the article with my supervisors and chief nurse executive. It has proven invaluable in identifying my strengths and areas in which I have an opportunity for growth.
