Denver-The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) today announced that Alexander M. Rosenau, DO, FACEP, an emergency physician from Allentown (PA) was elected president-elect during the organization’s annual meeting in Denver (CO). He was elected by ACEP’s Council to serve a one-year term and will assume ACEP’s presidency at next year’s meeting in Seattle.
“ACEP advocates on many levels, but our profession faces significant challenges in a cost-cutting environment and the uncertainties of implementing the Accountable Care Act,” said Dr. Rosenau. “Yes, we have work to do. Emergency medicine provides incredible value to the health care system, but we must gain recognition for our role, and we must press for medical liability reform.”
Dr. Rosenau is vice chair and an attending emergency physician in the emergency department at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network. He currently serves as ACEP’s vice president and chair of the Emergency Medicine Foundation. In addition, he served as past president of Pennsylvania ACEP and is a past recipient of U.S. Public Health Service National Health Service Corps Achievement and Commendation awards.
Dr. Rosenau completed his residency in emergency medicine at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Dr. Rosenau is the founding program director of the Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network emergency medicine residency program. He is an associate clinical professor of emergency medicine at Penn State University College of Medicine in Hershey.
