Aid for Burn Victims

Alameda, Calif., fire fighters have made a $12,500 contribution to the University of California at Irvine’s Medical Center in Orange, for use by the hospital’s burn unit. This duplicates a similar amount given last year. Over the last six years they have contributed nearly $90,000.

“As a group, we have undertaken a program to aid those persons who receive burns,” said Fire Inspector Mike Doty, president of the Alameda Fire Fighters Association. “This money is used by the burn unit for purchasing equipment and sophisticated instruments, and in tissue culture research.”

The yearly contributions have been the result of family benefit concerts held each year at the Anaheim Convention Center.
