Police and firefighters are investigating the link between a domestic fight and a suspected arson at the same apartment two days later, reports cleveland.com
The fire that broke out early Monday at the Susan Court apartment complex is being investigated as arson. Police reports say someone lit a couch on fire.
The fire spread through the single apartment until flames shot through the apartment window and smoke billowed from the building, firefighters said.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was injured. Firefighters contained the fire to the single apartment.
The couple that lives at the apartment argued about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. A man struck his girlfriend several times, causing unspecified injuries, and refused to allow her to leave the apartment, according to court records.
The man faces a fourth-degree felony domestic violence charge because he has a 2010 conviction for the same crime.
