A firefighter rescued a woman trapped in a burning home Monday morning in Tuscumbia, Alabama.
WHNT reported (http://bit.ly/14sNETe) that five-year Tuscumbia Firefighter Bert Johnston participated in the rescue. Wearing only his fire suit, he kicked the door in and rescued the victim.
“The back [of the home] is what was on fire, and that was the only way out that she had at that time because the front door was locked and she couldn’t get out of it,” Johnston told reporters.
Video from the scene showed Johnston and other firefighters at the scene of a what appeared to be a single-story home that was ravaged by fire. The victim was transported for smoke inhalation. Firefighters believe the fire began in the home’s laundry room.
