A law requires Albuquerque (NM) to contract with an ambulance company to make sure people who are in emergency situations get the best care possible. But for nearly a decade, Albuquerque firefighters responding to calls would sometimes have an ambulance show up–but other times, not.
According to a KOB report, 89 percent of all calls the Albuquerque Fire Department responds to are medical calls. The fire chief says he knew the department was not following the law and has spent awhile to get things on track.
