Answer the Call, the New York Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund, announced that Lauren Profeta has been named Director of Development. Profeta has served the organization as Associate Director of Development for the past three years and will assume her new, expanded role immediately.

“We couldn’t be more excited for Lauren’s new role here at our organization,” said Answer the Call President Philip V. Moyles, Jr. “Since joining us three years ago, she has been a great asset to our Board, staff, and most importantly, the families we serve. Lauren will steer the ship as we continue our efforts to provide assistance to the families of those who gave their lives to keep us safe.”

Profeta, a native of Brooklyn and the sister of three New York City First Responders, will help lead efforts of Answer the Call – which provides assistance to the families of the city’s fallen police officers and firefighters.

“I am proud to be part of this wonderful organization and remain committed to helping the families of our fallen heroes,” said Profeta.

In her new position, Profeta will be responsible for coordinating fundraising efforts for Answer the Call as well as managing day-to-day functions relating to staff, Board of Directors and Beneficiary Families.  She will continue to serve as the main liaison with the FDNY, NYPD, and Port Authority regarding various Answer the Call initiatives benefiting the families of fallen police officers and firefighters.

Prior to joining the New York Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund in 2013, Lauren Profeta spent three years as the Development Director of Only Make Believe, a nonprofit organization that brings interactive theater to children in hospitals. Prior to that, she was a litigation associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP where she dedicated significant time to pro bono cases and charitable causes. Profeta graduated summa cum laude from St. John’s University with a B.A. in English Literature and cum laude from Harvard Law School.
