The Board of Directors of The Senator Frederick L. Warder Academy of Fire Science Faculty Student Association (Fire Academy FSA), located at the New York State Academy of Fire Science in Montour Falls, has established the “Andrew Fredericks Memorial Resident Scholars Chair.” The purpose of this program is to encourage fire service education through scholarly research while in residence at the New York State Academy of Fire Service.
Interested candidates should submit proposals for the development of a segment of fire service training and education curriculum, an article or monograph for publication which advances fire service education and training or other scholarly advancement of fire service education and training. Applications will be evaluated on the basis of the merits of the proposed contribution to the advancement of fire service education and training.
The successful candidate will have a one-year period with which to complete the work. Work must be accomplished by in-residence attendance New York State Academy of Fire Sciences for a period of not less than two weeks. At the successful candidate’s option, the two weeks may be two one week periods or one full two-week period. As part of the award, the student will be entitled to two weeks lodging and Fire Academy meals as well as a cash stipend of $1,000.00. The room and board provision will be paid by the Fire Academy FSA at the time of study and the $1,000.00 cash stipend will be awarded at the conclusion of the study period and the delivery of the finished work product by the candidate.
