Update 12:55 p.m. ET: The firefighter slain in today’s shooting in Arkansas has been identified as Ronald Jason Adams, 29, who went by his middle name and was a full-time member of the Sherwood Fire Department in addition to volunteering with the East Pulaski Fire Department.

ORIGINAL STORY: A Pulaski County (AR) firefighter was reportedly shot while responding to a medical call this morning.

According to ArkansasOnline.com, the unidentified firefighter responded to a report on Dortch Loop Road outside North Little Rock around 5 a.m. and was shot. The firefighter, who served with East Pulaski Volunteer Fire Department, was transported to an area hospital where he died.

A suspect in the shooting is being questioned by police, according to the report.
