Asbury Park (NJ) Firefighter Critically Injured in Fire

A veteran firefighter suffered burns and broken bones after becoming engulfed in flames and diving out a second-floor window while fighting a fire in an apartment building in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Firefighter Jason Fazio, 41, was listed in critical condition Monday night.

Asbury Park Fire Chief Kevin Keddy said Fazio was in an apartment during a flashover. Fazio then apparently dove out the window to save himself. Early reports indicated the firefighter suffered second-degree burns.

A total of 28 people were displaced by the incident.
