Baltimore Firefighter Injured in Vacant House Fire

A Baltimore firefighter suffered minor injuries Wednesday morning as crews responded to a blaze at a vacant home in the city’s Franklin Square neighborhood, reports The Baltimore Sun.

Firefighters were called at 5:06 a.m. to a three-story vacant home at 11 S. Calhoun Street, near Baltimore Street, where heavy smoke was coming from roof, said fire department spokesman Samuel Johnson. The fire extended to a neighboring, vacant home, Johnson said.

The blaze was placed under control by 6:52 a.m. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, Johnson said. No other injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation.
