Baltimore (MD) Firefighters Respond to Four-Alarm Fire with Collapse

Baltimore (MD) firefighters responded Monday to a four-alarm fire that caused several buildings to collapse, according to reports.

According to wbaltv.com, officials said a vacant building in the area of West Baltimore Street caught fire around 2 p.m. and spread to six other buildings.

As firefighters conducted operations, a partial collapse occurred in three buildings and a full collapse in one, according to the department’s social media accounts.

Vacant Buildings: Scourge of the Fire Service

The cause of the fire is reportedly under investigation.

Earlier this year, three Baltimore firefighters were killed in a collapse in a vacant building, and the city has sought to assess its policies regarding vacant and abandoned properties.
