Beaver Dam (WI) Woman Dies in Fire in North Hills Mobile Home Park

Jan. 3—A mobile home fire left a 29-year-old Beaver Dam woman dead early Friday.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Beaver Dam Fire Department, Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and the state fire marshal.

Sheriff’s deputies were the first on the scene at 1:48 a.m. for a report of a fire at Lot 43 in the North Hills Mobile Home Park, N8283 Kellom Road, in the town of Beaver Dam. The mobile home park is just north of the Beaver Dam city limits.

Responding deputies were on the scene within three minutes of the call and found the mobile home engulfed in flames, Sheriff Dale Schmidt said in a statement.

One resident, a 29-year-old man, was able to make it out of the residence safely. The woman who resided in the home and was not able to escape and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiner’s Office, Schmidt said. The pets in the home also died in the fire.

The Beaver Dam Fire Department responded along with other fire agencies to extinguish the blaze.

“On arrival firefighters found a mobile home that was fully involved in fire, Beaver Dam Fire Chief Michael Wesle said in a statement. “Two vehicles were also burning in the front yard. Firefighters quickly deployed several hose lines, began suppressing the fire, and worked to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby exposures. Firefighters worked to gain access to the mobile home and locate the victim.”

The Beaver Dam Police Department and paramedics, along with fire departments from Waupun, Juneau, Burnett, Randolph and Hustisford and Watertown paramedics, assisted at the scene.

This is the second fire in the mobile home park in the last two weeks. A fire on Dec. 21 left another mobile home in the park uninhabitable, but no one was injured.
