Becki White Is Eden Prairie (MN) Fire Department’s First Female Assistant Chief

This March, Becki White, a Fire Engineering contributor and blogger and former Minnesota deputy state fire marshal, became the first female assistant chief in the history of the Eden Prairie (MN) Fire Department.

A recent profile in the Eden Prairie News (http://bit.ly/1vjlKIk) also noted that White is the third person in department history to rise through the ranks into the position after starting with the department as a firefighter. She’s also the second woman to become a lieutenant and the first woman to become a captain.

The profile describes her previous work as a teacher and with the state and chronicles her fire service career. In her new role, White is responsible for coordinating the department’s training and she oversees the department’s inspectors and investigators.

Eden Prairie Fire is a combination department of approximately 90 members. White is one of nine full-time employees.

“I am fortunate to be a part of a department that invests in its members by equipping them with the training and tools needed to do the job, as well as providing mentoring and leadership development,” said White. “The department has high expectations for our members, and we have an amazing group of people that make up the approximately 90 members.”
