Bodycam Video Shows Police Rescue Child Jumping from Window at IL House Fire

According to a report from WAND 17, bodycam footage captured dramatic footage of three Charleston (IL) Police Department officers rescuing a minor who was trapped on the second floor of a Charleston, Illinois, house fire Wednesday afternoon. 

Officers Seth Brewer, James Milton, and Jacob Huss arrived on the scene of the fire at 1323 Madison Avenue to find flames coming from the first and second floors of the home. They reported finding a minor trapped on the second floor.

Police ran to a window, where a Mel’s Disposal employee and retired Illinois State Trooper Rory Steidl had directed the victim to go. The officers then helped the child jump to safety, catching him as he hit the ground. 

Another person inside of the house was able to escape, but the home was a total loss.
