Several hundred of Boston’s bravest were in attendance Sunday for mass at the chapel of Forest Hills and the annual procession and ceremony at the Fireman’s Lot. The day-long event recognizes the 184 Boston firefighters who died in the line-of-duty since 1852. Boston is the oldest professional fire department in America, and this ceremony has been an annual event for generations.
Fire Engineering Editor in Chief Bobby Halton spoke at the event; he was hosted by Boston Fire Department Commissioner Roderick Fraser and IAFF President Rich Paris.
