Brauer Promoted at Illinois Fire Service Institute

CHAMPAIGN, IL December 31, 2011 -The Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) announces that Brian R. Brauer has been promoted to Associate Director for IFSI.

In addition to his current responsibilities, Brian will be representing IFSI on the University of Illinois campus and on state committees.  He will also oversee day-to-day operations on the institute’s 28-acre complex, as well as oversee transportation, curriculum and testing operations, and wildland fire fighting training programs.  Brauer will also participate in collaborative research projects.

Brauer has been with IFSI since 2000 and has served as Fire Fighting Program Director and most recently as Assistant Director.  He has a Master’s degree in Education and is currently working toward his Ed.D. from the University of Illinois in Human Resource Development.  His doctoral thesis is focused on building a description of the culture of the fire service, and how this culture contributes to firefighter line-of-duty deaths.
