Bryan Texas Firefighter Killed and Three Others Injured in Fire

One Bryan (TX) firefighter was killed and three others were injured while battling a fire, reports KTRK-TV Houston.

Fire officials report that a passerby saw the fire and called 911. Several Bryan units responded.

The Bryan Fire Department says the flames were so intense, part of the building’s roof collapsed while firefighters were still inside.
Fire Lieutenant Eric Wallace, 36, was killed in the line of duty, officials said. Wallace served almost 13 years with the department. He is survived by his wife, Brandi, and five children.

Three others were injured and airlifted from the scene, officials said. Firefighter Ricky D. Mantey Jr., 30, Probationary Firefighter Mitchel S. Moran, 21, and Lt. Gregory W. Pickard, 54 are receiving treatment this morning at UTMB in Galveston. They have served five years, 10 months and 32 years with the department, respectively.

College Station Fire Department helped secure the site after the Bryan firefighters were injured.

Bryan Fire Chief Randy McGregor said in a press conference that the State Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate the incident to determine the cause of the fire. It is reported that no activities were occurring in the KC Hall when the fire was reported.
