Burdett (NY) Firefighter Dies from Medical Emergency

A firefighter in New York State has died after a medical emergency, according to a report from the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA).

On Monday, September 16, 2019, Burdett (NY) Firefighter Dale Jaynes, 72, was working with his crew at a residential structure fire when he suffered a medical emergency.  The nature of the injury was not reported. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where he passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.

Firefighter Jaynes had 47 years of service. This is the 42 firefighter fatality reported by the USFA in 2019.
