Burlington (NC) Firefighter Killed, Another Injured in Off-Duty Crash

The Burlington Fire Department said one of their firefighters was killed and another was injured in a car crash, reports wfmynews2.com.

It happened Sunday night just before 10 p.m. in Alamance County. Highway Patrol said Burlington Firefighter Michael Perry was killed in a crash on McCray Road. They said Perry was driving when he ran off the road and tried to over-correct, but then hit a tree, a utility pole guide wire, and a parked semi-trailer. Troopers said speed and over-correction were factors in the crash.

Troopers said Perry’s passenger and fellow firefighter Timothy Scott Lassiter was injured in the crash. Lassiter was taken to UNC Hospital.
