CA Firefighter Pleads Not Guilty to Embezzlement

A former California firefighter has plead not guilty to charges the he embezzled from the Clovis Firefighters Association. John Morton Watson had worked in Fresno County and served as the union’s treasurer. He is accused of taking more than $100,000 from late 2004 to 2011.

The Fresno Bee reports that authorities say Watson admitted taking $56,000 for a personal hardship but claims to have borrowed money from his parents for repayment to the union’s treasury.
