CA Firefighters Battle Fire at Amazon Warehouse

A massive fire erupted early Sunday morning at a warehouse near the corner of Santa Anita Avenue and Central Avenue in South El Monte, just across from City Hall.

The warehouse, which reportedly housed Amazon return items, caught fire around 4:20 a.m., sparking concerns due to the presence of lithium-ion batteries and small electronics, KTLA reports.

Firefighters from LA County Fire Department worked for over two hours to bring the blaze under control. Despite initial explosions caused by the volatile batteries, no other structures were threatened, and no injuries were reported. Fire crews have since transitioned to a defensive operation, using excavators to overhaul debris and address lingering hot spots.

Residents are advised to avoid the area as cleanup and investigations continue.
