CA Firefighters Rescue Shot Police Officer Outside Fire Station

According to a report from KTXL, members working at the Roseville (CA) Fire Department’s (RFD’s) Fire Station 5 helped rescue a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer struck by gunfire from an active shooter outside the station Thursday afternoon.

At around 12:30 p.m., CHP officers were serving an arrest warrant in Mahany Park when the suspect opened fire at the officers, hitting one.

RFD members then sprang into action, calling for additional resources, donning their tactical gear, and going outside to grab the officer. They then brought the officer inside and began treatment. Soon after, Roseville Police Department officers arrived to assist the CHP.

After administering treatment, the officer was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

Officers saw the suspect running through Mahany Park with a firearm and then take two hostages near the greenbelt area. The suspect shot both hostages, killing one of them.

The suspect was also shot and transported to a local hospital in unknown condition after surrendering to law enforcement.
