Of all the Fire Departments in the world, a Swiss Reality television station has selected two of our Cape Coral, Florida firefighters to participate in their highly popular show called “Job Tausch” (Job Swap). “Job Swap” is produced by Constantin Entertainment with the intent to provide both a job portrait and cultural exchange between the two countries.
Fire Department Engineers Amanda Brashear and Mark Solich were selected from 30 firefighters who responded to the casting call from the production company after Cape Coral was announced as their select city.
At 30 years old, Solich became a firefighter in 2008. 29-year-old Brashear is a nine year veteran. Both have only served in Cape Coral and were delighted to be selected.
“This is the opportunity of a lifetime,” said Solich. “It is just starting to feel real.”
“I was a little shell-shocked when I found out,” said Breashear. “I am really excited to see how firefighters work in Switzerland.”
As highlighted in the attached photos, the two Cape Coral Fire Department Engineers got their first taste of stardom when a German production team filmed their daily activities this week to showcase a day in the life of a Cape Coral firefighter.
On July 2, the Cape Coral Fire Department will welcome the two selected Swiss firefighters to our City. The Cape Coral Mayor and members of City Council will hold a ceremony and proclaim this “Swiss Firefighter Week” in the City of Cape Coral. This week-long job exchange will be filled with daily activities including the Swiss firefighter’s first experience of an American Independence Day.
